School trip


A Christmas school trip was set in December 2011 and 2012 for the children of the nurseries schools of Dago Thim and St Cecilia plus some orphans living in the area and the children of some of the group's volunteers. 





A total of 133 children and their 4 teachers visited the impala park in Kisumu and went for a boat tour on the  Victoria lake. It was for most of them the first time that they were going outside their native village. The trip was financed with the sell of the group's handicraft in Europe.

CBO's Office



The office of the cbo is located in Kiboswa market, Nyahera, in a church compound next to the safaricom headquarters for the western part of Kenya.




In addition of serving as a place where visitor are welcomed and the administrative activities of Odiero Initiative are conducted, the office is also use to teach IT to the community. Informatics packages are offer to the community for the lowest price in Kisumu county by a professional teacher .





Baraka Support Group


Baraka Support Group have been found in 2010 by 21 HIV positive widows of all ages. They are trying to break the taboo that exists on HIV in the area, despite the fact that 70% of the population is affected according to public survey. 


The necklace project is helping them to provide their food and health care along with those of their children and sometimes orphans' grandchildren.


Cecilia Community Self Help Group


Cecilia Community has been found in 2011 by the fusion of two groups respectively involved in nursery education and women empowerment. The group is managing St Cecilia nursery school where teaching and food are provided to 25 children of the surrounding community.






The necklace project has helped them to buy a water tank for the school. Most of the women present in the group are the bread winner of their family and the money collected by their hard work is used to pay food, cloths and education for their children.
